Alex Catchpoole – Creative Director

Alex has been involved in production and visual effects for over 18 years, with experience as a director, flame artist, vfx supervisor and designer.

Alex possesses that rare mix of technical expertise and imaginative artistic flair that distinguishes truly world-class talent. As a flame artist, he has built a reputation for consistently achieving the impossible and is currently considered one of New York’s top artists. His expertise is consistently sought by clients who recognize that he brings something extra to every project – whether it is an event, a complex visual effects sequence, a broadcast advertising campaign, or a low budget documentary.

Alex began his career in London at the age of 22, with Flame Version 1.0. He moved back to his native Australia in 1994 to open the visual effects department at Digital Pictures in Sydney.
In 2002, Catchpoole relocated to New York and opened TANQ in 2007.

Mary-Joy Lu – Executive Producer

In addition to building TANQ from a start-up into a successful post production company, Mary-Joy has managed the company’s expansion into event production, branding and direct marketing. Her work for the iconic american brand Stetson includes events at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas and a collaboration with the internationally acclaimed Mumford & Sons.

Prior to forming TANQ, Mary-Joy worked as the Executive Producer at Guava Studios, a New York based visual effects company specializing in top end commercials. Under her leadership Guava expanded its client base to include work for Mercedes, BMW, Crest, and Radio City Music Hall.
Mary-Joy began her career as a producer in Australia alongside director Anton Beebe with their production company, ‘Temenos’. At Temenos Mary-Joy produced commercials for an international roster of clients, including Singapore Power, Who Magazine, and SBS Television.
Her credits as Visual Effects Producer include the 1999 IMAX feature ‘Sydney – Story of a City’, directed by Bruce Beresford, a national network rebrand for Channel 10 Australia, commercial work for JWT, McCann Ericson, and EURO RSCG.
